1993
Cache Creek Foods was founded in 1993 by WWII Veteran & food business entrepreneur, William (Bill) Shade. Bill had previously founded Shade Foods - a chocolate & confectionary ingredients business that was known for quality and innovation in ice cream & chocolate. Shade Foods was eventually acquired by Kerry Group, and the key plants are still operating today.
At it’s inception Cache Creek Foods focused on helping farmers add value to their crops through confectionary coatings, and small batch manufacturing of seasoned & candied nuts. Bill saw a need for high quality tree nut ingredients, and Cache Creek Foods began tree nut butter manufacturing.
2000
In the early 2000s, Bill’s son-in-law, Matthew (Matt) Morehart, and daughter, Sally, assumed operations. With a team of food industry experts, and a game-changing food scientist, Cache Creek Foods helped key, multinational beverage brands bring their first almond milks to market - supplying them with the perfect almond butter base and supporting their alt-milk formulations.
With a reputation for innovation, quality, & integrity, Cache Creek Foods became the golden standard tree nut ingredient supplier, to the top food and beverage companies across the globe.
2023 - Present
In 2023, Matt and Sally retired, & Cache Creek Foods became part of the Hampton Farms family of businesses, led by Dallas Barnes.
Also founded by a WWII veteran (Mutt Barnes), Hampton Farms has grown over the past one hundred years, and feels blessed to have built a successful business, founded on principles of honesty, integrity, fairness, and playing an active role within our local, regional and national communities.
